You say NO you didn't get it yourself. You can get it on your tax return even if they already got it for you and they won't have to pay it back. It's legal.
If you cannot be claimed as a dependent on a 2021 tax return then you are eligible for the 3rd stimulus payment of $1,400 on your 2021 tax return. When asked if you received the payment answer No.
If you were claimed as a dependent for 2020--YOU did not receive the stimulus money. Your parents received it. The stimulus was a credit that you can get on a 2021 tax return----but the IRS sent out the payments in a hurry so people received the payments based on their 2020 returns. They do not have to pay it back even if they do not claim that dependent on a 2021 return. But the "loophole" in the law lets you get it now on your own return---so enjoy the $1400!
