2026 estimated tax payments - will not copy 2025 information over!

I followed this information:

To calculate and view next year's estimated taxes on TurboTax Online, follow these steps:

  1. Down the left side of the screen, click on Federal.
  2. Down the left side of the screen, click on Other tax situations.
  3. Click the down arrow to the right of Other tax forms.
  4. Click to the right of For W-4 and estimated taxes.

I have all self-employment income.

When I get to the part where it asks "Would you like us to copy your current year Schedule C info to next year?" I answer "yes" and "continue".

Nothing is copied. It wants me to manually enter every piece of information...

My notes from last year show that it worked then.

I'm not having any trouble getting this information carried over.  I'm going to suggest a few quick things to do to see if they fix the issue.

First, clear your cache.  Here's how to do that.

Second, delete your cookies. Here's how to do that.

Third, restart your computer.

The software should update.

Try it again now.

Thank you. I did all of that. ( I should mention this is MacOS Desktop version, so I'm not sure what clearing cache and cookies would do since I'm not using a browser, but I did it anyway.)

The problem did not correct itself. Let me show you what I see.

First of all, my taxes are completely done and ready to file. I've printed them out and verified everything, checked all errors, every number is in there and ready to go. I just need my estimates for next year as I am self-employed.

So, going to the section referenced above, this is what I see: (I'll skip some screens that ask for personal information).intuit1.png

And so, having done that, clicking Continue goes to this, where all the information is blank. Nothing is there. You have to enter everything manually (which I just spent hours trying to do...

And this is the kind of thing I had with last year's version (2024 Desktop): It would show you the current year, and the estimated year side by side, with all of the information filled in:

I'm not sure why it isn't copying over, but I can tell you that the estimates for next year can just use the numbers for this year.  Just type those in direct from your 1040 and you will have the estimates you need.  The only reason to be in this section is to adjust the estimated payments from the ones generated automatically by the system if you believe that your income is going to be different next year.  Copying the numbers directly from your 2025 1040 and only adjusting the ones that you know will change will get this job done.

Thanks, that's fairly obvious, but I did not want to search through the forms to find all the exact numbers they ask for. The screen promises to copy them over - then doesn't. And the reason I am in this section is they didn't automatically generate ANY estimates, so I need to do it.

And when they ask for things like "Net Investment Income", this is not a number that is directly on your return. You have to calculate it from a few other items. Or "Other Income and Investments" - this is combined from 3 or 4 other lines in the return - but they don't tell you which ones.

Anyway, I did it manually, and it took several hours to make sure I was locating the correct information. It could have been so much easier, like it was last year. This is a bug.

Anyway, thanks for answering.
