2025 TurboTax Premier - Explanation Statement of Amortization of Domestic Research and Experimental costs

This Explanation Statement - "Filed PURSUANT TO SECTION 6.02 OF REV. PROC. 2025-28" was just added to my 2025 Federal Tax Return randomly. I tried deleting, but it keeps on popping up... I'm planning on using the standard deduction. IS this a TurboTax glitch?

Yes, it is a glitch that started a few days ago and has been happening to many people.

Unfortunately, it might be one of those "wait until they fix it" situations.

I just noticed this on my return right before I was going to file

Any update on this?  I cannot seem to efile with the statement being overridden.  It fails final review.

On a holding pattern with this annoying glitch - I can’t e-file either… I’ve checking TurboTax every day for an update though ☺️

If you are filing Schedule C and amortizing Research and Experimentation expenses, this statement will be added to your return. If this doesn't apply to your situation, please follow the instructions below to allow us to investigate this further.

You will be creating a “diagnostic” file that has your “numbers” but not your personal information:

In TurboTax Online, open your return, go to the black panel on the left side of your program and select Tax Tools. 

1. Then select Tools below Tax Tools.
2. A window will pop up which says Tools Center.
3. On this screen, select Share my file with Agent.
4. You will see a message explaining what the diagnostic copy is.  Click okay through this screen and then you will get a Token number.
5. You may wish to snap a screenshot to post instead of the actual number.
6. Reply to this thread with your Token number (including the dash) and tag (@) the Expert requesting the token from you.
7. Please include any States that are part of your return - this is VERY important.

If you are using TurboTax for Desktop, go to Online in the top menu, then choose "Send Tax File to Agent."

We will then be able to see the same experience you are having. If we are able to determine the cause, we'll reply here and provide you with a possible resolution.

Thank PatriciaV for proving a way to check the info in our individual tax returns.

FYI, I'm not using Schedule C - so the infamous Explanation Statement shouldn't even be an issue.

Anyway, I just wanted you and the rest of the group to know that I updated my 2025 TurboTax Desktop/Win 11 version this morning.

After updating TurboTax, I checked my tax return and the "Explanation Statement of Amortization of Domestic Research..." form was gone.

So all is good.
