My taxes with TurboTax are delayed each year because of Turbo Tax not having forms ready. My taxes are ready to go, however, I cannot file these due to the delayed form 8283 for Non-Cash Contributions. This is a big headache every year to delay filing because of one form or another. When will the desktop version be available so I can FINALLY file my 2025 taxes which I won't be able to do tomorrow due to the yearly issue with delayed form relases by TurboTax. Date please???

Form 8283 is estimated to be finalized and available in TurboTax on 01/28/2026
BTW, thanks for the update and I hope this is a firm availability date - 1/28. I have been a TT customer for over 15 years. The form delays is a major pitfall for Intuit. It is too bad that forms are not ready sooner. Last year 8283 was delayed for about 2 weeks from start of filing season. Hopefully Intuit will make it a priority to have the forms that are most commonly used by taxpayers ready by the onset of the opening of Tax filing season.
As of 6pm Eastern Standard Time 1/28/2026 there were no software updates for Turbotax Desktop. Once again as in every year my tax filing is delayed because the form 8283 was not pushed by a software update. This is the same every year. I think I will stop using TT next year after 15 yrs.
I want to echo this poster’s comments. I am extremely disappointed I cannot efile due to TurboTax’s failure to upload Form 8283. Please advise as to when Form 8283 will be ready for use.
The s/w updates tend to come on Thursday mornings, this morning's update has other forms that people were waiting on, not sure about 8283 but check for updates today.
Are there any updates on this. It appears the form is updated (no longer says do not file on it) but the form is not generated or populated from the interview. Thanks
I am incredibly frustrated. The program should have said that it was unable to complete my return due as Turbo Tax wasn't prepared yet. I was playing around with the free software available but decided to take the easy way out since I have used Turbo Tax for years. Big mistake. I went from completing my taxes early to tax season starting and I'm on the sidelines waiting for Turbo Tax to get it together even though they had no problem charging me for the services. Ughhhhh!
said 8283 form available on 30th jan. still not able to fix my rejected return because form apparently not available. The fact that went thru payment process then informed REJECTED FED AND STATE returnbecause of form. WOW
I agree, very annoying that the form isn't ready yet & that they removed It's Deductible! When you say the form isn't there, do you mean the actual form itself or one that we can type & enter info ourselves directly into TT desktop 2025 sotfware? I see form 8283, however it will not allow me to enter any info other than the date when items were donated. I don't want to have to pay $30 just to use a app that will allow me to do this & import it to TT desktop software.
@JoeC_4 the 8283 issue is supposed to be fixed on desktop with the s/w release this morning, make sure you have the latest update. Believe the form was not being included in returns for filing with donations above $500. Online was still having some issue that should be fixed in early this week according to earlier posts.
As for the $30 to use an app if you're referring to Deductible Duck for example - note the import into TT is only a partial solution, you have to go through and review all the items and add some details not supported by the TXF format, see instructions below. For TT Online it creates problems with e-file.
Turbotax is apparently developing some tool to provide FMV on donations but unclear when it will be implemented but saw comments about Feb/Mar timeframe. I don't think I'd wait on it for 2025 though - but if it's useful for 2026 this may curtail the usefulness of some of these 3rd party apps unless you really need the year-round input and they fix the import.

During our final testing after TurboTax released their 2025 versions, we discovered that TurboTax Online won't allow you to import a TXF file OR attach any supporting documentation for e-filing. If you use TurboTax ONLINE with Deductible Duck, you'll have to print and mail your return.
