2025 OR does not import HSA or IRA amounts from Federal

Using TurboTax Online.  The information is entered in the Federal return, but the OR form 40P shows blank in the Federal column.  I can input the amounts manually but it says it needs to match the Federal column, which is not editable.  How can I resolve this?

Try these three methods in the order given to see if this will clear the error.

  1.  Go back to the Federal tab.
  2. Navigate to Wages & Income (or any section with a number).
  3. Click Edit on a small entry (like $10 of interest). Change it to a different number,
  4. This forces the TurboTax to run a full recalculation.
  5. Immediately go back to the State tab and revisit the Oregon section. This often forces the Federal Column on the 40-P to "wake up" and populate.
  6. Close your return to save the change
  7. Open it back to reinsert the change you made in step 3.

If this doesn't work, try this.

  1. In the left-hand menu, select Tax Tools > Tools.
  2. Select Delete a form.
  3. Find Form 8889 (for HSAs) and the IRA Contribution Worksheet
  4. Delete them. (Don't worry, your W-2 data stays, but the calculation forms reset).
  5. Close the program and then open it back up again.  this will save the change.
  6. Go back to the Federal interview and quickly re-step through the HSA and IRA sections.
  7. Once finalized, return to the Oregon state return. The fresh forms often link correctly where the old ones failed.

This third step is to be used if the other two fail.

  1. Go to your State interview Tab. Select the trash icon and remove the state return
  2. Sign out of TurboTax
  3. Clear your cache and cookies.
  4. Now log back again and restart your State interview. it should now successfully pull the data from the federal return into your Oregon state return.

I see the adjustment for your IRA on 40-P, but on what line is the adjustment for the HSA? Also, which type of HSA contribution is this: the payroll deduction (W-2, box 12, code W) or the direct contribution to the HSA custodian (line 13 on Schedule 1, form 1040)?

Thank you for your reply!  The HSA amount should be $4850, direct contribution, and it is entered correctly on the Oregon side but nothing in the  Federal side field.  This is the worksheet section just below line 26 on OR-40P.  IRA is line 21 of Form 40P, should be $8000 and is also correct on the Oregon column but missing on the Fed side. I will try to post screenshots separately below if I can.

Thank you for this!  The first two did not work but the third one did.  Hopefully this will help anyone else struggling with OR forms.
