2024 turbo tax won't open

I just went into TT program for 2024 and did the update where the data is saved and the update takes place. Now when I click on the icon in order to restart the program, the program flashes for an instant and then won't open. I've restarted my computer and this doesn't help.

I tried opening my 2023 TT program and that worked fine.

IF Windows computer...you can try the manual update (it takes a while, so be patient):

But if that doesn't work, and you have checked to ensure your W10/W11 OS updates are fully installed.......then a few folks have found that a full uninstall/reinstall of the TTX software was required for them to get it working  (Make sure you have your installation code handy).

Are you running TurboTax in Windows? If so, do you have Norton 360 (Norton Antivirus) on your Windows computer? Norton 360 prevents TurboTax from running after the most recent TurboTax update. If that is your situation, try temporarily disabling Auto-Protect. If that allows TurboTax to run, post back here and I will give you instructions for adding an exception to Norton 360 to allow TurboTax to run.

Here are two ways to temporarily disable Auto-Protect.

1. Right-click the Norton 360 icon in the taskbar. On the pop-up menu click Disable Auto-Protect.

2. Open Norton 360. Click Settings, then Antivirus. Click the toggle for Auto-Protect.

Whichever way you do it, it will offer you choices for how long to disable it. Select 10 minutes. Then see if TurboTax will run.

This problem appears to be fixed by today's TurboTax update, Sep. 25, 2025. Please install the update and see if you can then run TurboTax. If you are not able to start TurboTax in order to get the update, try the manual update - see the reply from SteamTrain above. Then see if TurboTax will run.
