2024 tax return won't open in Online version

I always used Desktop version but this year I am using the online version. I am logged into my intuit account and have started a return. My first step was to Transfer my 2024 return from my desktop hard drive to the online version. Unfortunately, nothing I have tried seems to load this file. It just continues to spin onscreen. 

- I browse for the file, the Browser works just fine

- Yes, it is the .tax2024 extension

- It is not password protected.

Is this a known bug? I am frustrated since the very FIRST thing I've done is already failing. Is the online version really this bad??

Not a known bug to me.  If it was, I would think we'd probably see more postings on it in this forum.

It works OK when I tested it previously, but haven't tried today.   

Are you using a VPN?  If so, try without the VPN if you can safely do so (i.e., at home and not in a public wi-fi place.)

If using wireless, you might try using a wired connection.

Is there anything unusual with your modem/router situation?   In any case, you might reboot those to see if that helps any.

Is your desktop that you're using a Windows or Mac?

Are you attempting the transfer of the 2024 desktop data file into a 2025 online return this way:

Log into the 2025 online return.

In the left menu column choose TAX TOOLS, then TOOLS.

In the Tools window choose "Transfer last year's TurboTax return from your computer."

When you agree to the warning, point the online program to the location of the *.tax2024 data file on your computer.

And when you continue, it just spins?     Is your computer a Windows PC or Mac?

Yes- exactly those steps. I'm on a PC. I've actually tried on 2 different PCs. The file is local (not in the Cloud). 

After I point to the file and say Import, it just spins. I've tried this so many times that the usage timer on the top right of the Online version is at 2.5 hours now. (and I've never gotten past this step).

You didn't comment on any of the other things I mentioned.  If you did all the rebooting computer, modem, and router, tried without a VPN; tried wired connection instead of wireless, etc. then I  don't know much more to say.

However, yesterday was a Windows update.   Did you perform the update?  If so, it may not be completely installed and could be "breaking" something until the remnants of Windows update are installed.
