2021 Rejected Federal Amendment - Can't e-file anymore

While doing 2023 taxes, I realized I missed credits in 2021 and 2022 taxes.

Amended 2022 thru TT Online, e-filed, got accepted.

Amended 2021 thru TT Online, e-filed, got rejected, instructions say to downloaded software, software finds mistake (apparently signature needed to be dated within year 2021...), fixed mistake, but now I can't e-file?

What's so confusing is that the software says to Print and Mail, but the instructions that get printed are for e-filing.

And at the bottom of the Software screen, it says:

"New as of August 2020! You may be eligible to electronically file your amended return. If you'd like to file electronically, click on the "File" tab above to proceed."

Is there a rule that rejected amendments need to be mailed?

Thanks

2021 Rejected Federal Amendment - Can't e-file anymore

Generally amended returns can only be filed electronically for the current year. Many of the prior years do not successfully efile. I would print and mail the 2021 amended return.
