2020 unemployment tax refund never issued

I filed my 2020 taxes showing unemployment income of 15000.  I filed and paid my taxes.  then the recovery act was implemented and I should NOT have paid taxes on $10,200 of that unemployment.  I have not received the refund for this change. The IRS has sent some refunds over the last year.

QUESTION: Is there a way for me to apply this$1,000+ refund on my 2021 taxes?

No.  An IRS adjustment on your 2020 federal tax return resulting in a refund cannot be entered as a refund on the 2021 tax return.

The IRS is far behind in releasing the refund for the 2020 unemployment compensation exclusion.  But you should receive if from the IRS sometime in 2022.
