2017 w2 wages $ 10,399, wasn't that too low to have to file? 2018 w2 wages $3,447 must I file? Yes they cut all required taxes from my checks

I had to act as care giver to my mother. Disabled In 2003 while on the job as a Medical Case Manager/RN First Assistant. I could not  work until 2017. In 2018 my dad  became disabled. His income is drastically  reduced. I now have to work and care givers. However,  I make very little money.

If your total income for all sources did not exceed your filing requirement (e.g. 2017 - $10,400 for Single Status; and, 2018 - $12,000 Single status), then you do not have to file a tax return for the 2017 and 2018 tax years.

However, because taxes were withheld, then you should file to claim a refund.  You have 3 years from the due date of each return to receive a refund. For example:

The 2017 tax return was due April 15, 2018.  You have until April 15, 2021 to receive a refund.

The 2018 tax return is due April 15, 2019.  You have until April 15, 2022 to claim your refund.

You might still qualify for EIC.  And state filing requirements may be different,
