TurboTax will automatically pull the HSA contribution information from the W-2 section of the program. When you are on the Let's enter your HSA contributions screen, you should only enter contributions that you made on your own (if any) and not those contributions you made via payroll deduction. Payroll contributions are reported on your W-2 in Box 12 with code W. (Click the screenshots below for reference.)
Go back to the W-2 section of TurboTax to enter the Box 12 information. Box 12 can have numerous entries, and you need to enter all of them in TurboTax. The FAQ below provides detailed instructions for entering W-2 Box 12 information.

I received form 1099-SA. I input form 1099-SA line 1 for the Gross distribution of $3589.88 checked HSA box and code 1
I input my W2 line 12-W for the amount of $3084. Somehow both numbers added to my 1040 form line 8 as "other incomes Schedule 1- line 9" for the total amount of $6673 and my federal tax return dropped from positive to negative number!
I retired in April 30th, 2020 and in my last pay check statement the deduction for the HSA was $152 per week, YTD $2584!
I am confused with all above numbers.
Please help me to input these forms correctly. Thanks in advance!
