1099-SA Gross Distribution is reducing my refund? And, I am selecting the distribution expenses medical only

Working through Turbo Tax 2024 Federal Taxes in wages & income 1099-SA (Distributions from HSA) and having challenges.  When I enter 1099-SA info (1) Gross Distribution ($4,928) (2) Normal Distribution, my refund goes down $1,629 (Fed + State combined) and I work through all the questions and enter all these expenses are Qualified Medical Espenses and my refund only comes back up $114 still reducing my refund $1,515.  This doesn't make sense as it's my understanding I shouldn't be taxed on HSA distributions if all the distributions go toward qualified medical expenses?  I also googled this and it says it will all come back when you click the medical expense box and it didn't it only came back a little?  I tried backing this out and going over several times?

Is this a Turbo Tax issue? I appreciate your help!

We encourage taxpayers not to watch the Refund Meter too closely, because there are thing happening in the background that you are not aware of.

We in the Community cannot see your private tax data, so I can only give you an arms-length response.

Look at your 1040 (see below on how to see it). Go down to Schedule 1 , line 8f. Is there an amount here? Is it the amount that is the amount that you think your refund was reduced (net)?

1040

Online:

On the left, click on Tax Tools, then Tools, then View Tax Summary back in the center, then View my 1040 back on the left. Note that Schedules 1, 2, and 3 are below the 1040 by scrolling.

Desktop:

Click on Forms on the upper right, then on the left, look for 1040 and the Schedules right below it.
