Hello,
Both my spouse and I did an IRA contribution via a backdoor Roth IRA in 2019 (some of the money was deposited and transferred early 2020). I have been following these steps to enter the transaction: https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/entering-importing/help/how-do-i-enter-a-backdoor-roth-ira-convers...
This has worked for me but my spouse 1099-r is counted as taxable income even though I followed the same step as a I did for myself.
Also the 1099-r for my spouse represent contribution made in 2019 for the 2018 IRA contribution (we also did a backdoor Roth contribution then).
How do I solve this? Thanks a lot in advance,

Please be sure to enter the basis that your spouse had in the traditional IRA (see steps 11 and 12).

Any conversion done after December 31, 2019 is a *2020* conversion that cannot be reported until next year on your 2020 tax return in 2021.
Be sure that any non-deductible contributions *for* 2018 were reported on your 2018 tax return with a 2018 8606 form that shows the carry forward basis to apply to taxable distributions/conversions.
