When I try to enter the information from the 1099-NEC, the TurboTax program automatically assumes she is self-employed conducting a business and starts a Schedule C. Helping to ensure that elections are conducted according to the laws is not a 'business' - it is a once-or-twice a year civic activity that is more like a hobby than a business. The 'pay' is incidental, but is still income.
How can I enter the information without creating a Schedule C for hobby-like income?
You'll need to sign in or create an account to connect with an expert.
It is easiest to just enter as Miscellaneous income. Under Less Common Income select Miscellaneous Income, 1099-A, 1099-C
