1099-B does not have Date Acquired for several transactions (53 in all). They were all short-term gain...but if I choose for the Sales Section chose Short-term gain then it would not "match the 1099-B exactly". That is the warning one gets when on the screen that my information has to match the 1099-B exactly. So, it is like if short-term is selected for sales that would resolve the error, but that would not be matching the 1099-B record as there is no "acquired date" date on it.
Frustrating - does anyone at TurboTax even read their own instructions and solutions? Seems like in this case they contradict.
Should mention, the transactions were downloaded from the brokerage and double checked against pdf copy of the same. "LEAVING IT BLANK DOES NOT FIX THE ERRORS" or EVEN OFFER A SOLUTION THAT WORKS.

Select short term. Although it says to match your form exactly, if you don't have a date, but you know it was all under a year, and it is not allowing you to leave it blank, selecting short term will still have the sales taxed and reported properly which is the only thing that matters when it comes to the IRS.
Thank you so much, Vanessa
Hi Vanessa,
Selecting short-term did not work. It still does not give rid of the error. Below is an updated screenshot. Even after selecting the sales selection as "short-term" it does not resolve the error. These were downloaded directly from the brokerage. I downloaded the pdf today and it had the following additional piece of information...
Noncovered Securities with Undetermined Holding Period # (Consider Box 5 (Noncovered Security) as being checked and Box 12 (Basis Reported to IRS) as not being checked for this
section. These transactions should be reported on Form 8949 Part I or Part II with box C or E checked.)
I would like to take a deeper look at this. However, I need a diagnostic file which is a copy of your tax return that has all of your personal information removed. You can send one to us by following the directions below:
