My son applied for a student loan but, I helped him applied/filled out the application form. I'm filing my 2025 return. My question is:

Can I put the interest to his Income Tax return, 1098E, BUT it shows I am the borrower. My son is the one paying the monthly payment. or I have to report it under my name on my Tax Return.

The loan was transferred to another loan company and put my name as the borrower.

Please let me know.

Thank you,

Because the loan is in your name and you are the legal borrower, the deduction belongs to you, not your son—even if he is the one paying it.
