Box 1 is 17K. Box 5 is 26 k. Tuition alone is 25k, but since the scholarship was applied directly as Tuition Exhange by the college, the college is not showing tuition in box 1. How do I adjust on my taxes. Box 1 does not include room, board, only eligible fees and expenses. If my simple brain makes sense of this, shouldn't my 25k schlarship (which is applied only to tuition) have a 25k fee associated with it? The school invoice DOES show the tuition, but we did not have to write a check for it.
