How can check the box on the 1040 form page 1. about my Main Home being in the US for more than 6 months in 2025 using Turbotax online?
Support from Turbotax is awful, I don't I'll use it next year, so annoying.
You'll need to sign in or create an account to connect with an expert.
You will need to complete the EIC section where it will ask about your main home in the US.
To enter or delete the Earned Income Credit -
Click on Federal Taxes (Personal using Home & Business)
Click on Deductions & Credits
Click on I'll choose what I work on (if shown)
Under You and Your Family
On Earned Income Credit (EIC), click on the start or update button
Can't answer the EIC section if you don't qualify for it. There's no solution when using Turbotax Online, I already spent 3+ hours with different experts and no one can have a solution, I understand its a problem with the software but how is it no possible to submit a technical support ticket?
I'll def not be using Turbotax next year!
You don't need to check it. I didn't and my efile went though.
IRS Instructions seem to tell you otherwise:
2025 Residency.
If your main home, and your spouse’s if filing a joint return, was in the United States for more than half of 2025, check the box. Answering this question will help the IRS determine your eligibility for certain tax benefits, including the earned income credit.
