Your tax software has a major glitch related to form 5695 residential energy credit.

Software will not allow me to delete the credit even though the credit does noting for my tax liability. The form is not available in your software for me to submit my taxes (WHY???). It is saying it will not ve available until 2/7/2024 (again WHY???).  I don't want to wait for a form that has no bearing on my tax liability and your software will NOT let me delete the form/  I have gone back and removed the info but it still shows.

What operating system are you using Windows or Mac?

I am using Windows 10 with the 2023 Premier desktop edition.  I had a Form 5695 included in my return and just deleted the form.  Closed the tax return and reopened, the form is gone.

If you are using Windows, click on Forms.  In Forms mode click on the Form 5695 on the left side of the screen to open.  At the bottom of the screen click on Delete Form.

TurboTax doesn't program its software according to tax law; it programs it based on IRS Forms, Instructions and Publications.  The IRS has not finalized the Instructions for Form 5695 yet, so that is why the software is not ready.  I would be surprised if they have it ready by 2/7/2024; I suspect it will be delayed later than that.

Are you SURE it won't affect your tax liability?  The form is not working correctly right now, so don't rely on what the software is showing right now to determine if it will affect your tax liability or not.
