Child receive SS under the age of 18 does he or she have to file. Or does the parent have to claim it on there income tax?

You do not report your child's income including social security on your tax return.  If social security is the only income your child receives, he or she is not required to file.  If your child receives other types of income along with social security, he or she is required to file if meets the filing requirements.  Please see 2019 Filing requirements

You do not report your child's income including social security on your tax return.  If social security is the only income your child receives, he or she is not required to file.  If your child receives other types of income along with social security, he or she is required to file if meets the filing requirements.  Please see 2019 Filing requirements
