Can I claim Supplemental Insurance premiums?

I have supplemental insurance through 3 different carriers (AFLAC, etc.). I'd like to know if I can claim my premiums? (Seeing differing answers here.)

You can deduct premiums that you pay out of pocket with after tax money for medical insurance, vision insurance, dental insurance.
You can not deduct premiums for "cancer" insurance or any similar insurance that pays you a fixed amount per illness or per sick day. You can not deduct life insurance premiums.

Go to the Federal section of the program.

1. Select "Deductions & Credits"
2. Select "Medical Expenses"
3. Continue entering your information as applicable until you see "How much did you spend on insurance premiums?"
