Why do I not qualify for the child tax credit when my son was not 17 until 08 of 2016.

Sorry they have to be UNDER 17 on Dec 31.  It evens out because you got a full year of the Child Tax Credit they year he was born.

Sorry they have to be UNDER 17 on Dec 31.  It evens out because you got a full year of the Child Tax Credit they year he was born.

You are doing a 2016 return.  So under 17 on Dec 31, 2016.
