With the energy credit for windows, my cost for the windows only was $4587.68. Turbo tax said I should get 10% as a credit. I only got $200. Could you explain that?

It is a bit confusing. While the maximum deduction for the Nonbusiness Energy Property Credit is $500, only up to $200 of the deduction may be for windows and skylights. For more information, please see page 2 of IRS Instructions for Form 5695, Residential Energy Credits.
