If you made mortgage payments in 2016 on the house you sold, you should receive a Form 1098 for the mortgage interest you paid. January 31 was the deadline for mailing those forms. If you haven't received it by mid February you should contact the mortgage company to obtain a copy. It might be possible to get a copy by going to the lenders web site, if you have loan account information.
I paid interest on a house this year 2019 and I sold my house in September. Will I get a 1098 from my old mortgage company or will my new mortgage company that I have my new house with send me one that has all of my interest paid for the year, old and new house?
No. You should get separate 1098. The new house and lender has nothing to do with the old one.
