Why won't Turbotax let me leave "Box 4- FMV on date of death" value blank when filling out my 1099-SA info for my HSA?

What is the distribution code in Box 3?

The Distribution code is 1.

Well, the distribution code of "1" (normal) should not care what is in box 4.

OK, have you deleted the 1099-SA and re-entered it, just in case, TurboTax was confused about what you had entered the first time?

If that doesn't work, are you getting this error message when you try to leave the 1099-SA data entry screens, or later in a Review?

If deleting any entry in box 4 and deleting the 1099-SA and re-adding it  doesn't work, then let's do the following:

***HSA RESET***

1. make a copy of your W-2(s) (if you don't have the paper copies)

2. delete your W-2(s) (use the garbage can icon next to the W-2(s) on the Income screen)

*** Desktop***

3. go to View (at the top), choose Forms, and select the desired form. Note the Delete Form button at the bottom of the screen.

*** Online ***

3. go to Tax Tools (on the left), and navigate to Tools->Delete a form

4. delete form(s) 1099-SA (if one), 8889-T, and 8889-S (if one)

5. go back and re-add your W-2(s), preferably adding them manually

If none of this works, then came back and tell me...
