Can someone else claim you as a dependent?
The standard deduction amount for an individual who may be claimed as a dependent by another taxpayer cannot exceed the greater of $1,100 or the sum of $350 and the individual’s earned income (not to exceed the regular standard deduction amount).
are you claimed as someone's dependent? then it's your earned income + 300
As mentioned above, the most likely reason is that you are claimed as a dependent on someone else's return. If this is not the case, are you sure you are getting the standard deduction and not the itemized deduction?
If you are married filing separate and said that your spouse chose to itemize, you would not be able to take the standard deduction.
The other reason would be if you were a non resident alien during 2022.
If none of the above apply to your situation, please go back through and double check your answers in the personal info section.
