The difference between the credits you expected ($7,052) and the amount you're receiving ($5,058) could be because the Credit for Other Dependents (ODC) is nonrefundable.
This means the ODC can only reduce your tax liability to zero—it doesn’t add to your refund beyond that. If your total tax liability was less than $4,000 in taxes, you won't get the full ODC amount as part of your refund.
