Why does being a student for more than 5 months of the year disqualify me from receiving an EIC credit?

When I begin the questionnaire on EIC I get excluded from receiving the $1,502 credit based on answering yes to the question on whether I was a full time student for at least 5 months in 2021. The IRS does not mention this as a disqualification criteria and other tax software does not ask this question or take it away. Is this correct?

If you are a dependent on someone else's tax return, that is what is disqualifying you from getting EIC---not the fact that you are a student.
