Why couldn't I take my child credit and instead is dependent credit?

If you are claiming a child on your return and you received the Credit for Other Dependents instead of the Child Tax Credit, then it is most likely due to your child turning 17 years old during 2019. This will disqualify your dependent for the Child Tax Credit.

Make sure to select The Whole Year when we ask how many months did you child live with you in 2019.
