The IRS allows you to deduct tax preparation fees on your return for the year in which you paid them. However, you can deduct fee only if you itemize. This deduction is subject to what is known as the 2 percent limit. This limit means that you can just claim the amount of the expenses that are higher than 2 percent of your adjusted gross income.
