Why aren't my itemized deductions been used by turbo tax and instead turbo tax is using the standard deduction?

My itemized deductions are $10,000 higher than the standard deduction of $24,000.00

Be sure you are looking only at Schedule A deductions, and not those on Schedule C or Schedule E.

Are you accounting for limits on the deductions, such as the floor for medical expenses and the cap on state tax? 

Use the link below and switch to itemized, then switch to Forms (top right) and look at the Schedule A.
