Why are my medical expenses not being deducted. I entered them and stated to use the standard deduction.

I left my job in June, I have w2 and 1099-nec income. When I enter my insurance premiums it does not change my self employed insurance line in the Schedule 1.  When I enter my insurance information it say we will use the standard deduction. I thought all people with self employment could deduct insurance premiums on top of standard deduction.

Did you complete form 7206?

I am using the step by step. When I look in the forms list it is not there.

The self-employed health insurance payments must be entered under Other business expenses under your business.  Only the amount, if any, of insurance premiums paid in excess of the amount deductible as a self-employed health insurance deduction is to be entered under Deductions & Credits for inclusion on Schedule A.  Of course if you are using the standard deduction, there is no need to enter any of these payments under Deductions & Credits.

Ok, I got my 1099-nec from my s-corp. So my business expenses are really filed by my accountant in that tax return.

To clarify I got a 1099-NEC and a K-1 from him.

1099-NEC income can not be reduced below zero by SE-Insurance premiums. Did you enter all the premiums using the linkage in Schedule C? if you enter them as part of medical expenses, they are not being treated as SE medical insurance.

Self-employment income is not reduced at all by a self-employed health insurance deduction.  A self-employed health insurance deduction is a personal, above-the-line deduction, not a business deduction.

Odd that you would receive a Form 1099-NEC as an independent contractor to the S-corp if you are a shareholder in the S-corp.  A shareholder in an S-corp would typically be an employee whose compensation is reported on a W-2, not on a Form 1099-NEC, so I suspect that your accountant has made a mistake.
