It depends.
If you entered the information for the auto under your Self-Employment income, it should give you the option to use the standard mileage rate or actual expenses.
You would enter this information under the federal section.
If you are trying to take the deduction as an unreimbursed employee expense, it is no longer allowed as a deduction for federal purposes.
If your father also uses the same vehicle for business and claims the actual expenses as a deduction, then you would not be able to use the vehicle as a deduction. You can only claim one method or the other.
Where do we enter the mileage deductions, etc. on the TurboTax Deluxe software? We received a 1099-NEC, and I couldn't find the Income and Expenses section and Self-Employment Income and Expenses in the software, but the software stated the Deluxe version would work for the 1099-NEC. Thanks for the information!
TurboTax Deluxe version only allows you to enter self-employment income. If you want to be able to deduct expenses, you must use TurboTax Self-employed (on-line) or TurboTax Home and Business (CD/Download).
