why am I getting an error on foreign tax credit comp wks? I can out a zero for adjusted basis of investment asstes generating foreign income, but get an error if I put zero for adjusted basis of total investment assets.

To eliminate the error, put a "1" in that field and see if the error persists. This won't impact your return one way or another.
