Why am I asked about insurance deductible?

Why do we need to talk about Catastrophe savings and the amount of deductible. This is not part of my income taxes.

What state do you live in? This sounds like state questions as the federal does not ask that anymore. Certain states like MA and CA require you to have health insurance during the year. If you don't you may be required to pay a penalty. This is why it is asked on your return.

When asked about a distribution from a retirement account for a Catastrophe in a prior year just answer NO.
