Where does my child tax credit go?

The Child Tax Credit lowers your tax liability; it is not a refund.  You probably saw the $4050 personal exemption for your child.  That also lowers your taxable income--it is not a refund.  Depending on whether you had income earned from working and how much it was, you may be able to get the earned income credit or the Additional Child Tax Credit, which do increase your refund.

If you are receiving these, they are already included in the refund you see.
