Where do I put my donations to church or charity at?
Please note that in order to claim charitable contributions, you must qualify for itemized deductions. If your total itemized deductions do not exceed the standard deduction amount for your filing status, you will not be able to claim your donations.
Please see these instructions for adding Charitable Contributions:
- On the Tax Timeline, select "Federal Taxes".
- Select "Deductions and Credits".
- Select "Check for more breaks" then "Skip to see all tax breaks".
- Scroll down to "Charitable Donations" and click "Show more" to expand the list.
- Click "Start" next to Donations to Charity in 2016 and follow the interview process.
