If you did not receive a Form 1099-C, to enter a short sale of home in TurboTax online program, go to:

1.  After sign in, select Take me to my return 

2.  In the Search box , at right upper corner, type in sale of home , then press Enter

3.  Select Jump to sale of home

4.  On screen, Sale of Your Main Home screen, select Yes

5.  On the Sold a Home screen, click Continue to enter your information 

If you did receive a  Form 1099-C as a cancellation of debt on your main home, please follow these steps:

1.  Open (continue) your return.

2.  In the TurboTax program, search for 1099-C or 1099C (lower-case works also) and then click the "Jump to" link                     in the search results.

3.  Select the type of cancelled debt (main home or other) and then click Continue.

4.  Follow the onscreen instructions to enter information from your 1099-C.
