When you're working in the Charitable Donations section, for each charity you'll be asked What did you donate and there will be choices for "items" or "money" or "stock" or "mileage & travel expenses."
If you're getting the question of valuation, then you're entering it as an "item" rather than money. So you'll need to start that particular donation again. You can advance to the end of the section, at which point you'll be shown the summary screen, Review all your charities.
Click Edit next to the charity name. Then click on the blue link, Add another donation, and the first screen you'll see will say "Enter another donation" and here you'll choose the type of donation, Money. Then follow the prompts.
Once you're done making the entries, you'll again be routed to the summary screen, which will now show multiple entries for the same charity. This is where you'll delete your initial entry (the one appearing as an "item"). You'll do this by clicking the Delete link next to the "item" line.
