What will happen if the mother of my child try and file my son after me....wouldn't my refund go through because I filed him first

Your refund will go through, hers wont.  However there is a form to fill out in the event something goes wrong.  Meaning you may get your refund now but there may be trouble later if someone can prove that you shouldn't of filed with your son
