What is the format of the 'Date home acquired?' in the sale of home section?

The format of the date home acquired in the sale of home section seems to be xx/xx, but when I enter 06/02 for June 2002 and move to the next line, the date cell remains blank and I am presented with a statement that I have not owned the home for more than 2 years. 

What should I enter for June 2002?
