Here's how to report the sale of your primary home in TurboTax.

• Click the Federal Taxes tab.
• Click Wages & Income
• Click "I'll choose what I work on" or "Jump to a full list."
• On the screen "Your 2016 Income Summary," scroll all the way down to the last section, "Less Common Income."
• Click the Start, Update, or Revisit button for "Sale of Home (gain or loss)."

If you got a Form 1099-S for the sale of your home, you don't actually enter the 1099-S form itself. Just enter the information about the sale that TurboTax asks for.
