Per IRS: Amounts received for work performed while an inmate in a penal institution, in a work release program or while in a halfway house are not earned income when figuring the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC).

All of my furniture, TVs, personal items were stolen and destroyed because of domestic violence. Do I report these even if they weren’t purchased during the tax year?
