We're filing separately, and I want to change my response from Itemized to Standard Deductions... where would I change this?

You realize you both must claim Standard, or both itemize, right?

You are not permitted to file and claim the standard deduction if your spouse is itemizing deductions. This is true even if you have no itemized deductions to claim.

If your spouse is not claiming itemized deductions and you wish to change your deduction method and claim the standard deduction, then follow the directions below to do so.

  1. Log in and click take me to my return (unless already in).
  2. Click Tax Tools form the left-side menu.
  3. Select Tools from the drop-down menu.
  4. Click Topic Search, type Standard Deduction and click Go.
  5. On the next screen, click the box to change your deduction.

Or you might need to go to My Info and check what you selected for your spouse. That's what one user had to do.......
By going in and editing my personal info there was a section a page or two in where I could unclick that my spouse would be filing itemized.
