We purchased a home this year - why are we not receiving a credit for that?

In general, the purchase of a home is not reported on your tax return.

However, as a homeowner, you receive special deductions. If you paid mortgage interest or property taxes, you may include these expenses under Deductions & Credits >> Your Home. Also, if you paid "points" to reduce the interest rate on your mortgage, these may be deductible as well (enter in the same section). Look for Form 1098 from your mortgage company to find these amounts.

The easiest way to find this section of TurboTax is to Search on "mortgage interest" and click on "jump to mortgage interest" to go directly to the start of this section.
