We had a child last year. How do I add this child to my tax return/filing?

Nice and simple. I was never asked if I had a child, and there is nowhere to add my child as a household member or dependent.

To add a child or dependent in TurboTax, follow these steps.

On the center menu select Personal Info and

1. Click Review Edit.
2. Your information, and your families will be displayed.
3. To change Your Personal information:
   1. Click the arrow on the right.
   2. Then select [Revisit].
4. To correct a spouse or child:
   1. Select [Review].
   2. Go through the interview to make any changes.
5. To [Add another dependent] click the box with the same name.

This was actually incorrect but I figured it out eventually. I had to go to tax tools and restart the whole process. Once you start filing you cannot simply go back and add a new child/dependent. You can only do it once and it’s at the very start of verifying your personal information and it’s very easy to miss. You need to click edit at the very start, or the option is gone forever.
