If the out-of-pocket expenses were incurred for a charitable organization, you may claim them as charitable cash donations (part of your itemized deductions) in the Deductions & Credits section.

Data entry in Turbo Tax:

1. Federal Taxes

2. Deductions & Credits, Jump to Full List

3. Charitable Donations, select Donations to Charity

Please be sure to obtain an official letter from the charity you volunteer for, confirming that you foster for their organization. An approved/registered charity is one that has a recognized 501(c)(3) designation as a Not-for-Profit organization.  If you purchased items you can enter them individually, or if you keep very accurate records (DATE, AMOUNT, ITEM) you could enter the total (be sure to indicate multiple times, different amounts)
