When I input my property taxes into TurboTax, it increased the deduction from the amount input up to the max of $40,000. This would lead to much too large of a deduction. Is there anything I can do to get the software to calculate this correctly?

If you entered your Property Taxes when you entered your Mortgage Interest from Form 1098 it transferred automatically to that section for you. If you then entered an amount in the Property Tax section, it may have doubled the amount of Property Tax.
Go back to the Deductions Topics page to see if the amount shown for Real Estate Taxes (or any other 2025 deduction) is too large. If so, you can Edit/Delete the section. You may want to then close the program, clear your Cache and Cookies and re-open TurboTax.

Thank you @MarilynG1, I will try what you suggested. I did not enter Property Taxes when I entered my Mortgage Interest from Form 1098 (I pay property taxes separately from my mortgage). And the deduction the software is taking for SALT is more than double my property taxes (it's taking the maximum $40k for some reason when my property taxes are only around $13k). In any case, I'll try to re-enter the property taxes after clearing cache/cookies and re-opening Turbo Tax. Thanks again for your help.
