TurboTax is saying I am due a child tax credit of $3500 for 2021 for one child, but it should be $3000 based on the age of my child (over age 6). How do I correct this?

Check the date of birth you entered in My Info for your child.   If your child was under the age of 6 at the end of 2021 the CTC is $3600.   If the child was 6 or older at the end of 2021 then the CTC is $3000.

Child's DOB is correct (2009), their calculation is showing the wrong amount.

What line on your Form 1040 is showing $3500?   What is on line 28?

We received $1,186 payments, line 28 shows 1,814 = comes to $3k which would be correct I think?

Yes that is correct.   Your grand total for the child tax credit for your child born in 2009 is $3000.   You got almost half of it during the months between July and December and you got the rest of the $3000 on line 28 of your tax return.   If your total refund on line 35a is more then you are getting a refund for something else as well--like tax withheld or some other refundable credit.

You still have not said where or on what line you saw $3500 so we can only make guesses about that.
