Do you have a TurboTax Online account?

We'll help you get started or pick up where you left off.

Turbotax is asking about whether my ex husband owned a home/paid car registration fees in 2020. We've been divorced for 3 years.

Does this seem like a bug, or is there a reason I'd need to answer these questions about my ex husband? I have been filing as Single since the divorce.

Thank you!

One other idea.

We can go in and see all of the forms you have in your return.  We will have to be very careful, but if we find something related to your ex we can delete it.

  1. We are going to search for a form that could be related to your ex.
  2. On the menu bar on the left that shows.
    1. My Info
    2. Federal
    3. State
    4. Review
    5. File
  3. Select Tax Tools
  4. On the drop down select Tools
  5. On the Pop-Up menu select Delete a Form
  6. This will give you all of the forms in your return
  7. Scroll down to the form and see if anything has his name, or something that stands out.
  8. Select the Form
  9. Click on Delete.

This will complete the process.

I suggest that you go back and check your Personal Info.  You will immediately see if anyone other than yourself is listed on the return.  You should also see that your marital status is Single.

Thank you for your response!

In the Personal Info, confirmed I am the only one listed, and I am filing as Single.

It is still asking about the ex-husband in Deductions and Credits.

Thanks for your help!

THANK YOU! This solved my issue. There was one form with the ex's name on it, and I removed the form.

Thanks again and take care.
